Welcome to Concerned Parents of Morgan Hill

We are a community of parents, educators and community members dedicated to restoring trust and excellence in our local public schools. We are engaged to elect and empower trusted leaders who stand for academic excellence, fiscal accountability and transparency with parents to foster a positive and fruitful educational journey for the children in our community.

Focus Areas

Academic Performance

Focused on the basics: Reading, Writing & Arithmetic.  Teacher to student ratio (class size) and intervention for individualized learning should be prioritized over special programs such as FACE and Wellness Centers and excessive administrative salaries and consulting fees.

Financial Responsibility

The budget should not be running at a deficit.  Reserves should not be a remedy for over-spending.  The Superintendent and Trusteed are responsible to operate under a balanced budget which prioritizes students and teachers over administrators and special projects.

Parental Transparency

Ensure transparency and support for parents, to enable them to support their children as they are the primary caregiver.  Leadership should be partnering with parents for ideas and support and listening to their concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions about our Schools

What is the ideal student-teacher ratio in the classroom?

The ideal student-teacher ratio is 16-20 students.  Current budget constraints due to priorities for administrators and wellness could increase the ratio to 36 students to 1 teacher.

How do you personalize the teaching approach for each student?

Currently, teachers may teach up to 4 grade levels as students move to the next grade regardless if they are academically ready.  There are classifications for students at or above grade level as well as for 3 levels behind the grade level.  Our teachers are awesome, but no one can teach to this range of students in one classroom.

What are the best methods for teaching students to enable them to achieve test results at their grade level?

The current curriculum is not working with an average of 30% of students performing at their grade level for reading comprehension and 18% performing at their grade level for math.

“I help in the classroom 3-5 days per week as I see so many students struggling.  The teachers need all the help they can get.  I'm involved in this parents' group to find and support school board trustees who care about the students and for their ability to read and write when they graduate!  We need change!”
